When I run the game for the first stuff after install (triple checked that all the steps in the guide are followed, no patching etc), the game runs fine until I try to log into the server.
When I log in, the game goes into windowed mode, and if I restart the game, it starts windowed, this is a minor issue. Then it goes to a loading screen, then a character creation screen. However, the only thing I see is a human character with a background. A menu with some options including 'new character' briefly flashed, and then disappeared. The briefly flashing screen looks like this:
Then it gets stuck on this:
The red x in the top right does not work, but I am able to move the screen around and minimize.
The only way to get off that screen is by pressing 'Esc' which takes me back to the login screen.
I've messed with all the options settings, nothing helps. I've also messed with the eqclient.ini, didn't do anything.

EDIT: This is on Windows XP Professional, 32 bit, mobile intel 4 graphics (latest drivers). 2GB of RAM, and 1280X800 resolution
