There are many tools which have been developed to collect and analyze packets from live.
- EqemuCollector - The current tool to do packet collection (command line version, see below for GUI).
- EmuCollect - A GUI compile of EqemuCollector built to make packet collection easy on windows. This program primarily generates packet files (.pf) for consumption by other tools.
- EtherealCollect - Instructions on using ethereal for packet collecting EQ.
- Pf2Text - A tool to turn a packet file into a human readable text representation of the packets.
- EqExtractor - A command line tool to extract information from packet files and put it into the database. This is one mechanism of getting things from live into your database.
- EqBuilder - A windows based tool which facilitates building zones based on packet logs from live. This tool is better for getting spawns and movement.
- PacketCollector - The old eqemu packet collector. This tool is now obsoleted by EqemuCollector.
