Additions:
To out to your local game store, computer store, what ever, and buy a Titanium copy of the game(Not Platinum or any other expansion). The game retails at around $20 in the US, considering how many expansions it comes with... which probably doesn't matter to you yet, considering you are new, and if you are reading this, you likely never played EQ Live or EQEmu.

DO NOT RUN THE GAME AFTER YOU INSTALL IT UNTIL STEP 6

Deletions:
To out to your local game store, computer store, what ever, and buy a copy of the game. The game retails at a very fair price, considering how many expansions it comes with... which probably doesn't matter to you yet, considering you are new, and if you are reading this, you likely never played EQ Live or EQEmu.

New Player - Guide from Getting Started from Right out of the Box

This guide will tell you what to do, to get started playing on Titanium Edition.

Step 1 - Buying the Game

To out to your local game store, computer store, what ever, and buy a copy of the game. The game retails at a very fair price, considering how many expansions it comes with... which probably doesn't matter to you yet, considering you are new, and if you are reading this, you likely never played EQ Live or EQEmu.

Step 2 - Installing the Game

If you can't do this, you should honestly not even be trying.
Put disk 1 in your DVD/CD ROM drive. Setup will appear on screen. Follow the directions given to you by the setup application.

Step 3 - Changing the EQHost file

Click 'Start', go to 'Run', type in, 'C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest\eqhost.txt'
Modify the file to look like
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

Save and close.

Step 4 - Creating the Shortcut

I'm assuming you know how to make a shortcut on the desktop.

Make a new shortcut, I recommend you do it on the desktop, but where ever you want is fine.
The Target should be '"C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme'

That is it for getting on, now you need a login server account.

Step 5 - Creating your Login Server Account

Go to The Forums and register.
Next, go to the USER CP - Login Server Accounts (Or Click Here) page.
Make a new login server account on that page.

You should be all set.

Step 6 - Playing

Run the game through the shortcut you created previously.

Select the server that you wish to play on.
Note: I have noticed that not all 7.0 servers are properly configured to allow connections. Just look around, and check the forums for news about new servers, some are very promising.

Have fun!
