and i'm on a mac. can someone please help me out getting on a server, thanks

The link to the FAQ in my sig should answer most questions. There is a playguide wiki page linked in the FAQ that should explain the rest.

There isn't currently a mac option for playing EQEmu other than to run a windows emulator to install EQ onto.

There isn't an official mac option, but check this post out:

I've used this fairly extensively and it works very well. On my computer (2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4Gb RAM), I can't really tell the difference between this and booting into Windows directly. Obviously, you can't run additional programs (MQ2, eqPlayNice, etc.), so it might not work for everyone.
