You need to build with debugging information in order for us to fix this.

I'm actually have a very similar problem as well. Latest build etc. Normally happens either right when a mob is killed or on looting. And very sporadic; doesn't happen all the time. I'll recompile with debug info to see what might be happening.

Other symptoms I'm having is a significant amount of zone.exe's hogging all CPU, bringing server to a standstill.

This may be the root and the world.exe crashing is just a symptom.

I know its just coincedence, but the recent departures from a stable emu enviornment (svn, non-cmake) there may have been something missed.

Compiling with debug info would help you track the endless loop down as well. When a zone is using 100% cpu, attach the debugger and break/continue a few times and you should be able to see where it is spending all of its time.

Ok, after abserving several zone.exe's go to 100% I think I figured out the case.

It happens when it looks like a zone.exe is about to crash...but doesn't. I say this because I USUALLY get 10ish or so "zone.exe has crashed, hit ok to continue" windows but since the recompile...NONE!

So, there may be a linkage. I have NOT recompiled with debug information. Anyone ever have the zone crash(er, not crash) because of this reason before? I'm thinking maybe its trying to connect to some OS-level crash/report but can't reach it for some reason. That may be because CMAKE is new and may be changing compiler options?

Also, I can reliably crash the hateplane zone itself. Anytime I load it(or any player) it goes to the 100% hang issue. Was anything changed with the database in this zone recently?

The tools exist to track this down without wild speculation. Compile with debug info and get a stack trace.
