Default Problems sertting it up

ok so i've set the eqhosts to my local address, that's done. unfortunately, the downloads section is down; so i did the sourceforge area for this server. the database is up in mySQL, and i'm lost. what do i need to do to connect? i run the public login server, but it patches to live.

edit: im using ax_classic 3.1 because it was the only thing i could find.

If you started patching to live even for a second, you need to uninstall, delete your EQ directory and install it again from the CDs. Then, you probably want to try this:

If you are just wanting to play, all you need is the client and you don't have to setup any server stuff. You can play on any of the public servers. But, if you want to run your own server, the link above should make the setup considerably easier.

To setup your client to play on public servers, just follow the playguide here:

No need to delete the station folder.

I always keep a copy of my Everquest unpatched on a DVD though.
